LMIA JOB OFFER
An employer in Canada may need to obtain a Labor Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) before hiring a foreign worker. A positive LMIA report will demonstrate a need for a foreign worker for the job. Obtaining a positive LMIA also demonstrates that no Canadians are available for the job. If an employer needs an LMIA, they can apply for it and once the employer receives the LMIA, the worker can apply for a work permit.
To apply for a work permit, a worker needs:
-
- a job offer letter,
- a contract,
- a copy of the LMIA, and
- the LMIA number
